Geometry adds Spatial Concepts to Marketing

05 August 2008

Geometry has teamed with Salmat, one of Australia's leading communication organisations, to develop the next generation of marketing applications incorporating spatial concepts.

Geometry has designed, developed and implemented spatial applications to enhance Salmat’s service delivery to its customers.

A distribution monitoring application uses GPS technology to provide a colour-coded map interface of distribution areas to Salmat’s direct advertising customers, allowing them to review the distribution of advertising material. This enables clients to efficiently monitor the distribution of advertising material, secure in the knowledge that the distribution has occurred as requested.

The Market Find Online application allows Salmat’s major national retail customers to accurately profile geographic markets based on a range of demographic statistics and presents the final results via a dynamic web-mapping interface. It provides a facility for identifying the most appropriate target areas for the distribution of advertising material based on the nominated demographics.

Both of these projects presented challenges in terms of data integration with Salmat’s existing DB2 infrastructure, and the partnering of Oracle Spatial technologies with Geometry’s “Exposure” mapping tool.

Geometry enjoys a continuing relationship with Salmat and provides new functions and updates to these applications on a regular basis.
